Liability Insurance

If you run a business, whether as a sole trader or larger company, you incur risks that could result in a claim being brought against you, either by an employee, customer or member of the public.

Liability insurance is available, protecting you and your business against such claims, and we are able to provide bespoke cover, tailor-made to your requirements.

Employer’s Liability is compulsory for any business with employees. Basically, it protects you against legal liability for injury or industrial disease suffered by an employee in the course of your business. Regardless of how an employee is paid, you are responsible for their welfare, which means even if someone is working for you on a self-employed basis, you may be liable for any injury they suffer. Standard limit for this cover is £10m.

Public Liability protects you and your business against injury or damage sustained by a third-party or their property arising during the course of your business activities. Limits of indemnity start at £1m although cover is often required in excess of this amount, depending on your business activities.

Products Liability cover is closely linked to public liability, and protects you against legal liability for injury or damage sustained by third-parties or their properties caused by products that your business sells or supplies. Limits of indemnity start at £1m, and you may take out Product Guarantee or Product Recall cover as an extension to this cover.
